Nevermore

Long ago my heart was large
But then I grew up on a rocky barge
The rest of me grew
But my heart went askew
And I lost my love
For the heavens above
My body began to shrivel
Spouting out dread and drivel

When my heart was new
It pounded steady and true
I had the world in my hands
Reaching across the lands
My voice a gentle hum
Matching the rhythm drum
When everyone listened
And I artfully glistened

But now my shadow follows
Urging my spirit to the gallows
Drowning in the waters rising
As the barge becomes immobilising
Stranded on the shore
Of the island “Nevermore”
